GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science
and seven IIT's (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT
Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination
Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource

that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate
subjects in engineering and science. The score may also be used by Public
sector units for employment screening purposes. The score is used for
admissions to various post-graduate programmes (e.g. M.E., M.Tech, and direct
Ph.D.) in Indian higher education institutes with financial assistance provided
by MHRD and other Government agencies.

Eligibility for appearing in GATE test is as follows:
4 years Bachelor in Engineering/Bachelor
in Technology/Bachelor in Architect.
Master in Science /
Statistics/ Mathematics /Computer applications or equivalent.
5 years Integrated PG
Courses or dual degree Courses in Engineering/Technology (five year programme).
4 years Post-B.Sc
Integrated PG Courses in Engineering/ Technology.
Fee of Application:
Fee of application is
non-refundable.
Rs 1200/- for Boys
applicants (SC/ST/PD Boys applicants Rs 600/-).
No fee for girls.

Admit Card Detail:
Through mail Admit card will not send. It can only download
from official site. At examination center applicants have to bring at least one
original and valid ID proof.
EXAMINATION PATTERN:
Online Examination for
paper code (AE, AG, AR, GG, MN and TF):
Using mouse answer will tick mark.
There are multiple
choice question where 4 objective in which applicants have to select one of
them.
1 or 2 marks each
questions carrying.
Offline Examination: Darkening the correct choice in
appropriate bubble in ORS(Optical Response Sheet).
Paper Type: Paper Carrying 100 marks in which 65 questions.
General Aptitude: 15 marks in which 10 questions
(compulsory).
For AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, GG, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI,
TF and XE paper code ratio of marks are-
Engineering Mathematics: 15 % from total.
General Aptitude: 15 % from total.
Devoted to the subject: 70 % remaining.
For AR, CY, GG, MA, PH and XL paper code ratio of marks are-
General Aptitude: 15 % from total.
Devoted to the subject: 85 % remaining.
